Frequently asked questions

Yes, cockatiels can make excellent pets. They are intelligent, affectionate, and relatively easy to care for compared to larger parrots, making them a good option for both beginners and experienced bird owners.

At Elite Cockatiels, we specialize in breeding high quality cockatiels. We have most all color mutations.

See a bird you like? Contact us to come see any of our birds in person. Unfortunately, at the moment we don't ship.

You should have a spacious cage, food, water and toys ready before you bring your bird home. We can let you know exactly what you need if you have any questions. We also stock and sell everything you need.

The only way to be sure if a bird is male or female is through D.N.A. testing. We can D.N.A. test any bird for a small fee.

All of our birds come with closed leg bands. This is to help you and us. Our bands indicate us as the breeder, the year of hatching and the birds i.d.

What separates us from a lot of breeders is that we hand feed our babies from a young age. What this does is build trust in the babies and let's them know human aren't a threat. All that's left to do is build a personal bond with your bird.

Captive cockatiels can live to be 30 years old, though the average is about 15-25 years.

Cockatiels can be noisy, but generally, they are considered one of the quieter types of pet parrots. Males tend to talk more than females.
